Shinrin Yoku – Forest Bathing

In The Forest

It’s a simple concept really.  Take a walk in the woods and, if you wish, enhance the experience further by breathing the scents of essential wood oils.

This outdoor activity has become a recognized relaxation and stress management technique in Japan over the last thirty years.  There, it goes by the name “shinrin-yoku.”  That translates to “forest bathing” in English.

If you’ve been following this blog you know that research is showing the value to your health of communing with nature.  Forest bathing is just another approach to communing and gaining those benefits.

www.shinrin-yoku.org promotes this activity from their headquarters in Sata Rosa, California.  They say: breathe, relax, wander, touch, listen and heal – great things for all explorers to do.  Get a quick overview in the following video, then go forest bathing!
