Published by Duffield and Company, New York, 1912.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The phenomenon is called &#8220;glaze ice.&#8221;  It is created in nature when freezing rain turns to ice on cold objects it hits.  In this case it is entirely artificial.  The glaze ice in these photos was formed from a sprinkler irrigation system when the temperature dropped below freezing.
