It was 1986 when Marilyn Price was bicycling up Mount Tamalpais near San Francisco when she realized that the inner city kids she was working with, had never seen the city from above, never done much physical activity and were constantly stuck in a concrete jungle. She wondered how these kids might be able to share her bicycling experience.\u00a0Trips For Kids\u00ae<\/a> was born.<\/p>\n

Trips For Kids\u00ae<\/a> was incorporated as a non-profit in 1988 and since then has helped thousands of kids experience the world from the seat of a mountain bike. In 1994 the program expanded with a bicycle thrift shop, Re-Cyclery, and an Earn-A-Bike program. Today Re-Cyclery in San Rafael, California<\/a>, earns 60% of the funding the organization needs to get kids touring on bikes.<\/p>\n

In 1999 Trips For Kids\u00ae<\/a> began supporting chapters based upon the successful California experience. These individual non-profit corporations carry the promise of Trips For Kids<\/a>\u00ae across the U.S. as well as in communities in Canada, Israel, and Sierra Leone. In many cases these chapters are associated with organizations like Boy Scouts, Boys\/Girls Clubs, YMCA\/YWCA’s, churches and various other\u00a0organizations\u00a0that serve youth.<\/p>\n

The following video presents the programs of the Denver\/Boulder Colorado chapter of Trips For Kids\u00ae<\/a> to give you a better idea of what the organization can offer.<\/p>\n
