{"id":573,"date":"2015-05-07T01:18:44","date_gmt":"2015-05-07T08:18:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/explore.globalcreations.com\/theblog\/?p=573"},"modified":"2015-04-30T22:37:57","modified_gmt":"2015-05-01T05:37:57","slug":"outdoor-recreation-and-drones","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/explore.globalcreations.com\/theblog\/featured\/outdoor-recreation-and-drones\/","title":{"rendered":"Outdoor Recreation and Drones"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-576\" src=\"https:\/\/explore.globalcreations.com\/theblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/ParrotDrone.jpg\" alt=\"Parrot Drone\" width=\"550\" height=\"301\" srcset=\"https:\/\/explore.globalcreations.com\/theblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/ParrotDrone.jpg 550w, https:\/\/explore.globalcreations.com\/theblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/ParrotDrone-300x164.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Flying drones is outdoor recreation. \u00a0Yet this activity often intersects with other outdoor recreation pursuits. \u00a0So much so that the National Park Service has banned drones in the National Parks since June of 2014. \u00a0That doesn&#8217;t stop people from flying them in the Parks and one fellow was recently tasered by a Park Ranger while flying a tiny quadracopter drone\u00a0at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Forest Service says\u00a0that it\u00a0does not have the authority to establish any additional regulations regarding where a drone or &#8220;unmanned aircraft\u00a0system&#8221; (UAS) can or can\u2019t be flown, beyond regulations of the Federal Aviation Administration (FSS). \u00a0They say that recreational drones must abide by Temporary Flight Restrictions put in place by the FAA over disasters such as wildfires\u00a0as well as the FAA&#8217;s\u00a0advisory <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faa.gov\/air_traffic\/publications\/media\/AIM_Basic_4-03-14.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">AIM Section 4, 7-4-6<\/a>\u00a0with suggested limitations for flight over Wilderness areas \u2013 a section that really has nothing to do with drones\u00a0(Search for &#8220;Forest&#8221; and also &#8220;7\u22125\u22125.
