Bierstadt \u00a0in the\u00a0Mount Evans Wilderness\u00a0of\u00a0Pike National Forest. \u00a0Eight people were injured and three were hospitalized, a dog died. \u00a0They were 500 feet below the summit.<\/li>\n<li>On July 17, Ryan Pocius and his bride\u00a0Kathleen Bartlett were hiking on Colorado&#8217;s Mount Yale during their honeymoon\u00a0when they were\u00a0struck by lightning at 12,400 feet. \u00a0Kathleen died and Ryan was hospitalized. \u00a0Two other people were injured.<\/li>\n<li>A\u00a0lightning strike in Del Mar Park in Aurora, Colorado, on July 18, sent four people to\u00a0the hospital with minor injuries, the lightning didn&#8217;t actually hit anyone.<\/li>\n<li>By July 15, twenty\u00a0people had died from injuries associated with lightning strikes in the U.S. \u00a0in 2015. \u00a0Typically, \u00a049 people die each year from lightning strikes. \u00a0In most cases these deaths are\u00a0preventable.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>Don&#8217;t Become a Statistic<\/h1>\n<p>Learn all you can about lightning safety starting with today&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/explore.globalcreations.com\/featured\/lightning-safety\/\">EXPLORE! article on the subject<\/a>. \u00a0Then heed the great advice!<\/p>\n<h1>Please Share<\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">#lightning \u00a0#lightningsafety<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hazards of Lightning At 11:30am on June 28, 2015 lightning began striking Mt.
