Take the GimmeFive Challenge

Last week, First Lady Michelle Obama launched the #GimmeFive challenge as part of the fifth anniversary of Let’s Move! Ms Obama is challenging everyone to #GimmeFive things they are doing to eat better, be more active, and lead a healthier life. The White House has already seen people from across the country join in — from eating five fruits and vegetables, to doing five pushups or lunges, to sharing five healthy recipes, and more!  Maybe even going for five walks every week.

Now Ms Obama invites you to #GimmeFive then share what you’re doing to lead a healthier life on Twitter, Instagram, Vine, Facebook, or Tumblr using #GimmeFive as a hashtag, and then be sure to pass on the challenge to someone else!

According to the Let’s Move website, Let’s Move is a comprehensive initiative, launched by the First Lady, dedicated to solving the problem of obesity within a generation, so that children born today will grow up healthier and able to pursue their dreams.  She says:  “In the end, as First Lady, this isn’t just a policy issue for me. This is a passion. This is my mission. I am determined to work with folks across this country to change the way a generation of kids thinks about food and nutrition.”

Naturally outdoor recreation plays an important part in addressing this issue and the initiative can help in building a new generation of people that love the outdoors as much as you do.
